Sports & Fitness Background

Fitness was never a focus of mine until I herniated two discs in 2014 and re-injured early in 2015. After back surgery, I realized I had to really focus on it.

How did you first get exposed to Bluprint Fitness?

I work next to the old gym! I used to see people running in hordes outside and wondered, “How can I get in on that?” The first WOD had me panting and out of breath after 10 minutes. That’s when I knew I was in the right place.

 

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? (before / after)

I could barely overhead squat the bar (45lbs) when I started in May. Now I can squat 135 a few times. So strength is a huge #1. I’m also eating more veggies, especially sweet potatoes, and staying away from sweets, starches, and fats/sugars. Clothes just fits better now.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like Bluprint Fitness that were totally unexpected?

I tried giving up drinking for a month to see how it would affect my testing. I’m also meditating and really studying my personal performance history. I found myself following lifting accounts on Instagram and learning more about nutrition. These are things I never considered, but have really helped me feel much healthier, faster, and sharper. My confidence is up in all aspects, not just in the gym.

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit/Bluprint Fitness moments and AND any advice for people just getting started.

Ankit and Pat have been my coaches since Day 1. They both have told me how much stronger I’ve become since joining. They’ve followed me on this journey. Advice? Once you’ve committed to trying this, ask for feedback. That’s the only way I’ve learned and gotten better.

What are you hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of Bluprint Fitness?

I really enjoy writing, traveling, and watching the Cubbies.
